Men's Golf Finishes 6th In Conference Carolinas Tournament

Dalton Gore and Kyle Simpson finished in the top 20 individually, but Mount Olive was not able to advance to the Conference Carolinas Tournament medal round, finishing sixth overall in stroke play at The Challenge Golf Club in Graham, N.C. Sunday afternoon.

Gore (73-75--148) was the team's top finisher finishing in a tie for 13th individually. Simpson (77-74--151) carded the Trojans' top score of Sunday's second round and placed 20th. The top 11 golfers were named to the all-tournament team. Gore missed the cut by just one stroke. Fifty golfers took part in the competition.

Jesus Valderrama (72-81--153) and Mark O'Hara (74-79--153) finished in a tie for 30th, followed by Sebastian Andersen (78-78--156) in 41st.

As a team, Mount Olive dropped three positions after Saturday's opening round 296. On Sunday the team finished at 306. Belmont Abbey won the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament with a total of 574, four strokes better than Barton.

Individually, Belmont Abbey's Adam Hedges (69-70--139) won medalist honors.
