Lincoln Memorial Continues Run With Win Over UNC Pembroke

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- The No. 7 Seeded Lincoln Memorial fought off elimination against No. 5 Seeded UNC Pembroke 11-6 in the Game 7 of the NCAA Southeast Regionals.

  • UNC Pembroke struck first in the bottom of the first inning as the Braves took advantage of two errors.  Roberto Rivera reached via an error to start the inning.  Lucas Ledford laid down a bunt single and brought home the opening run as a throwing error sailed into the outfield allowing Rivera to score.
  • Lincoln Memorial countered with two runs in the top of the third inning on a two-run blast by Mason Ewers to left field that just got over the wall to give the Railsplitters a 2-1 lead early.
  • The Braves reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth, 3-2.  Ethan Baucom and Stibel Aleman Saba reached base after being hit by pitches.  Drew Beaver delivered the tying and go-ahead run following a wild pitch with a double down the left field line.
  • LMU didn't trail long scoring five runs off six hits and an error in the top of the fifth to reclaim the lead at 7-3.
  • The Railsplitters added two insurance runs to push out to a 9-3 advantage in the sixth inning.
  • UNC Pembroke cut into their deficit, 9-5, in the bottom of the sixth scoring two runs on RBI groundouts.
  • Nick Debo tallied the final run for the Braves in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI single to left field.
  • LMU tacked on a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth to keep the Braves at-bay and took the contest 11-6.



  • Dominic Morabito (9-4) grabbed the win tossing 8.1 innings and scattered 10 hits allowing six runs (four earned) and struck out seven.
  • Kyle Boraski (6-3) was handed the loss allowing five runs off nine hits in four innings of work.
  • Drew Beaver went 2-3 with three RBI and a double for the Braves.


Lincoln Memorial keeps their tournament hopes alive with the win in the loser's bracket.  LMU will take on Catawba at noon Sunday in an elimination game.

UNC Pembroke ended their tournament with a 1-2 record.
