Trojans Continue Academic Success

The University of Mount Olive had another successful fall semester in the classroom. Fifteen out of UMO's eighteen sports had a team GPA of over a 3.0.

Women's Golf won the highest team GPA with a 3.708, ending the men's tennis team's streak of seven semesters holding the top spot among teams. The men's golf team was close behind taking the top men's spot with a 3.677.

Seven teams made over a 3.25: Men's Tennis, Softball, Women's Cross Country, Women's Tennis, Men's Volleyball, Women's Soccer, and Men's Soccer. There were also six other teams that had a cumulative 3.0 or higher: Women's Track and Field, Women's Lacrosse, Baseball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Basketball, and Women's Volleyball.

The average student-athlete GPA was a 3.182, the second-best ever in school history. The average team GPA was a 3.259, the best ever in school history, and marked the 13th straight semester with over a 3.0 GPA.

"I'm so proud of the academic performance of our student-athletes during the fall.  They have continued to meet and exceed our goal of a 3.0 GPA for our department.  It is also important to recognize that our coaches consistently emphasize the importance of academics and support their team in our quest for academic excellence," said Vice President for Athletics Jeff Eisen.

There were also 22 student-athletes that had a perfect 4.0 GPA for the spring semester.
