Trojans Have Successful Start To Indoor Track And Field Season

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive track & field teams had a successful showing in the first meet of the 2017-18 indoor track and field season at the UNCG Early Bird Duels in Winston-Salem, N.C. Taylor Moncrief led the Trojans with an NCAA Provisional Qualifier in the triple jump.

WOMEN'S NOTABLES

  • Taylor Moncrief led the women's team as she broke the school record in the triple and long jump. She also set an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in the triple jump and will wait to see if she will qualify for the National Championship in March.
  • Celine Ritter and Shona Blades also moved into the top-3 in the 3000m as Ritter moved to second and Blades moved to third.
  • There were 15 moves in the top-10 in nine different events on the women's side of the UMO record book.

MEN'S NOTABLES

  • Martin Bayles broke the school record in the pole vault with a 4.15m mark finishing second behind a DI runner from Wake Forest.
  • Johnny Middlebrooks moved into third place in both the 200m (22.37) and 400m (50.18) events in the UMO record book. Middlebrooks also won the 400m event.
