Trojan Train Deemed A Success

The University of Mount Olive Athletics and Alumni Relations departments have joined together to host a new series of events dubbed the "Trojan Train".

The Trojan Train is an event where fans, alumni, staff, and coaches gather together to mingle and meet and greet in cities throughout the eastern part of North Carolina. So far the train has stopped in at Ribeyes in downtown Mount Olive where Trojans fans and coaches met for appetizers and a question and answer session.

The next stop was at the Dig And Dive in Wilmington, N.C., where head coaches Carl Lancaster, David Heller, Joey Higginbotham, and Reid Clewis all visited with the Trojans in the states most famous beach town.

This renewed version of 'Meet the Coaches' has been successful in its first two stops, with the third set for September 14th in Raleigh, N.C. Fans can join in the 'Trojan Train' experience at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe at 6 p.m. on the 14th as head coaches Wendy Lee, Carl Lancaster, and Mike Murphy will be the guest coaches representing UMO Athletics.

"We had the Meet the Coaches at Kornegay arena for many years," said Dwayne McKay, the Director of External Affairs for Athletics and the Trojan Club. "The Trojan Train offers fans a chance to meet and greet with the coaches and allows for time to mingle in a more relaxed setting. We had a great turnout at Ribeyes in Mount Olive and Dig And Dive in Wilmington and can't wait to see everyone next week at Tobacco Road in Raleigh on Sept. 14. We look forward to this event growing in the coming years and helping expand the relationship between the community and UMO Athletics."
